Sunflowers and Bees - Download this Digital Print

This item is a JPG picture that you download. Once payment is confirmed by Etsy, Etsy will send you a link to download it. Once you download onto your device, do whatever you like with it... print it, share, use it in any capacity you want. Frame it and hang it where you can enjoy it, and it can make a nice git. This is my personal picture which I gladly share with you...

This picture was recently taken here on the farm. We grow a lot of flowers for the bees and butterflies, as well as just because they are beautiful. My wife does most of that side of activities around here.

The bees are certainly an important part of the ecosystem, and we appreciate all the work they do, like pollinating the fruit trees (which is my bias). The early flowers like the Forsythia and Quince, give way to the Dogwoods, Redbuds. Of course the Dandelions start early, and the bees like those a lot. The fruit trees start blooming, and the bees swarm to the Cherries first, then the Plums, followed by the Peaches, Apples, and Pears. Then by the end of that part of the blooming cycle, the berry shrubs, Butterfly Bushes, perennials and annual flowers are starting to come on. Finally, we get to the large showy Sunflowers, which the bees really enjoy.

The Statue of Liberty - Download this Digital Print

This item is a JPG picture that you download. Once payment is confirmed by Etsy, Etsy will send you a link to download it. Once you download onto your device, do whatever you like with... print it, share, use it in any capacity you want. This is my personal picture which I gladly share with you...

On a trip to New York City, in May 2019, one of the more remarkable opportunities was to take the boat out to see the Statue of Liberty, walk around it,and learn about this majestic sculpture. We also went to Ellis Island where the new immigrants came into this country, where they were interviewed and processed before entering the young United States. A wonderful history lesson, with an important message for today.

The message we should hear today is that of "Gratitude". When looking at the statue, she says, "Bring your tired, your hungry, your poor...". These desperate and poor soles came to the American shores for a chance of a positive change. A chance for freedom from oppression, hopes for a home, a job, to live in peace and safety. There were many reasons why the millions and millions of people from all around the world want to come here, the United States of America. Think about it...

During this crazy time in America, can we come together for even a moment, like for July 4th Independence Day, and give thanks for the many blessings we really do have in this country. We are Americans, born in this great land, or migrated to this land, with an opportunity live safely, learn, and make whatever of this life that you will. We have many freedoms and liberties that must people in the world only dream of having. America is not perfect, we are not perfect, and certainly I am far from perfect, but at least we can strive to make our lives and our country a little better. One day at a time..

Just look at the news, mob rule and “peaceful” protests are happening in the major cities, the Corona Virus has stymied our otherwise robust economy, censorship and spying have shredded our Rights of free speech and privacy, amidst a turbulent presidential election year. The major controversies these days revolve around defunding the police departments, perceived racism, gun control, freedom of speech and religion, and government over-stepping its bounds in regards to privacy and due process.

But.. be grateful you are "here" versus some other country where ones whining and little temper tantrums would have you beaten and dragged into prison. Be grateful that we "can" stomp up down the street screaming potty-mouth language at various people or groups. Be grateful you have food to eat, clean water, a place to live, and have clothes on your back. How spoiled we can become with our little cell phones and WI-FI, and a few dollars in our pockets. If we can get our heads out of our spoiled bottoms, we have a great wealth of blessings that we should be thankful for.

Think about it... Download this picture, print it out, and keep it somewhere you will be reminded that you live in the greatest country in the history of human civilization. Love this country, make it better, do something positive to improve the world in which you live.

Sorry to say, it was cloudy that day, but still, the picture should download a good enough glimpse of Lady Liberty. I sometimes think that it was better that the day was cloudy. It reminds me that people came from gloom and despair, to the Light of America... Hope, Freedom, and Liberty.

About the Statue

The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in New York, in the United States. The copper statue, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and its metal framework was built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886.

The Statue of Liberty is a symbolic representation of the American Independence. It is France’s gift and dedication to the US for the Declaration of the Independence. Thus the Statue is made aptly, depicting the Roman goddess of freedom, Liberta. The Statue, that way also represents friendship, liberty and openness.

About the Colorado Blue Spruce

One of the most popular trees to plant as a specimen or a fence line is the
blue spruce. For obvious reasons, it is rare to have a blue-ish color
tree. A tree that helps to increase property value probably more than any
other single tree, is the blue spruce.

The Colorado Blue Spruce (Picea pungens) is a member of the Pine Family
(Pinaceae), and the natural range is in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. They
are found at the higher elevations from 6,000 to over 10,000 feet, either
in dense stands or as scattered individuals. In the past, it was used as a
timber tree, especially as the mountain area was being developed, but
since then, it is a minor timber species. The tree is slow growing, from a
few inches a year, to maybe a foot or more if the conditions are good.

Since the introduction into the ornamental landscaping market, the blue
spruce has become very popular. They are expensive trees to buy, related
to the slow growth, but also to the uniqueness of the tree. There are now
about twenty varieties of this tree, but basically its still a blue spruce.

Use this tree to highlight a key area in the yard, where the tree is the
focal point of that area. You can also plant a line of spruces, along a
fence, driveway, as a screen or other border. As they get bigger, the
visual impact is stunning, and the value of the property is greatly
enhanced.

They grow tall, but slowly, and not wide spreading like a hardwood, so for
general planning, use one foot of growth per year. If you start with a one
foot tall seedlings, then generally, in ten years, that tree will be about
ten feet tall. A five foot tall tree, in another five years, would be
about ten feet tall. This is just a general rule, varies of course, but in
making landscaping decisions, this is worthwhile.

They can be planted almost nationwide, the hotter the climate, the less
well they grow, but you can find blue spruce in Florida. Certainly, if it
grows naturally at 10,000 feet, they can do very well throughout the
northern half of the country, and they do. The Colorado Blue Spruce is a
magnificent tree, drive around town and see how many there are.

A Few Words About the Horse Chestnut Tree

Native to southern Europe, specifically the Balkan States, the Horsechestnut is widely planted throughout Europe, and popularly planted in this country. Heights can be anywhere from 30 to 80 feet tall, broad to very broad in shape, with dense branching. The flowers are creamy-white, appearing about late April through early June. The nuts are encased in a thick spiny leathery 3-parted husk, and the seeds ripen about mid September to mid-October. The leaves are medium to light green and have serrations along the edges. This tree can be planted from USDA Plant zones 5 to 9, as a flowering shade tree, windbreak, or barrier tree. Growth rates would be considered medium-fast, about 2 to 3 feet a year once the tree gets established. One of the up and coming popular varieties has pink flowers.

That's just an exert from the Book... Ok, yes, we are promoting the book. It's a pretty good read though, easy, informative, and talks about the Horse Chestnut. Isn't that reasonable?
